Zelensky: Ukraine should become a full member of the EU

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said today that his country's membership in the European Union must be fully realized, rejecting the German Chancellor's proposal for an intermediate status as an "associate member" without voting rights.
"Without Ukraine there can be no fully fulfilled European project, and Ukraine's presence in the EU must also be full, with all the rights deriving from membership," Zelensky wrote on social media.
"It would be unfair for Ukraine to be present in the European Union but remain silent," Zelensky wrote in a letter to EU leaders, which DPA has seen.
He said the enlargement process was taking too long and stressed that Europe needed to move faster instead of keeping Ukraine "in a waiting room" until full membership was granted.
