Viktor Orban surprises with statement: Russia cannot attack NATO, is not capable of defeating Ukraine

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has seriously questioned Russia's ability to confront NATO, stating that Moscow is too weak for such a war.
In an interview with the French channel LCI on June 8, Orbán said that Russia has not been able to defeat even Ukraine, so it does not pose a real threat to the Western military alliance.
“The Russians are too weak for such an attack,” Orbán declared. “They are not able to defeat Ukraine, so they are not able to really attack NATO.”
The statement comes more than three years since the start of full-scale Russian aggression against Ukraine. Despite continued offensives, Russia has not achieved its strategic objectives, including the surrender of Ukraine or the full occupation of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions – demands that were reportedly part of proposals presented by Moscow as early as 2022.
Orban added that it is not in the interest of the European Union or Hungary to be involved in a direct conflict with Russia. He openly opposed Ukraine's membership in NATO, saying that "this would bring the risk of war and clashes that must be avoided."
“Europe must be strengthened in the long term and must reach a strategic agreement with Russia,” the Hungarian prime minister said, also stressing that sanctions against Moscow “are destroying Hungary and all of Europe.”
