Khamenei's residence in Tehran hit by 30 bombs

Israel's attacks on Iran this morning targeted around 30 key regime leaders and senior military commanders, led by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

According to Israeli sources, Khamenei may have been assassinated – a possible first case where Israel has attempted to directly eliminate the head of a sovereign state.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said there were many signs indicating that Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, "is no longer with us," without explicitly confirming his death.

Netanyahu also said that Khamenei's compound had been destroyed, and that Revolutionary Guard commanders and senior nuclear officials had been killed.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Khamenei is alive "as far as I know."

An unquoted report by Channel 12 says that, in coordination with the United States, about 30 bombs were dropped on Khamenei's compound.

He was underground during the attack, but not in the deeper bunkers that only American bombs could have penetrated. The report also claims that his military secretary and several members of Khamenei's family were killed. Satellite images show the complex has been almost completely destroyed.

It is also reported that Mojtaba Khamenei, Khamenei's son and the expected candidate to succeed his father, may have been assassinated.

The attacks also targeted the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, General Mohammad Pakpour, Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh, President Masoud Pezeshkian, and top Intelligence chiefs.

Other key figures were also targeted, including Army Chief Sayyid Abdolrahim Mousavi, a potential candidate to succeed Khamenei, Ali Larijani, and former IRGC Navy Chief Ali Shamkhani, who, according to unconfirmed reports, may have been killed.

Also targeted were Esmail Qaani, the head of the IRGC's al-Quds force, and Majid Mousavi, the head of the IRGC's Air Force that oversees Iran's ballistic attacks.

According to Channel 12, a total of about 30 key leaders and commanders of the Iranian regime were targeted in an attack that lasted only a few seconds, including massive strikes on Khamenei's compound.
