Clashes at Belgrade University / Students clash with police in Serbia

Hundreds of Serbian students clashed with police forces after resisting a search of Belgrade University offices, sparking tensions between authorities and anti-government activists.
As seen in the footage, police used rubber batons to disperse demonstrators who were chanting “dogs” and “traitors.” Police said the search was part of an investigation into the death last Friday of a female student who fell from a window of a building near the university.
The University Rector announced that the police entered the building without a valid legal explanation and after the search had seized documents and computers.
On the other hand, authorities stated that the search warrant was in accordance with a court decision, while adding that fireworks, handheld radios, gas masks, banners and first aid supplies were found during the search.
Anti-government protests have gripped Serbia since December 2024, a month after 16 people lost their lives in the collapse of a railway station canopy in the northern Serbian city of Novi Sad.
