Operation against drug trafficking in Istanbul/ Famous Turkish actress arrested, 7 others in handcuffs

Turkish authorities have arrested actress Ezgi Eyupoglu and seven other people today following a drug investigation in Istanbul.
Eyupoglu was arrested on suspicion of purchasing drugs for personal use, according to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
Two others, identified by the initials EK and IAA, were arrested on suspicion of drug production and trafficking, while the other four suspects were arrested for facilitating prostitution.
The operation is the latest phase in a wide-ranging investigation that has seen dozens of arrests since October.
According to Turkish media, the case is part of a wider drug investigation in Istanbul, where several television news presenters have recently been detained for questioning or arrested on suspicion of drug use.
TV presenter Ela Rümeysa Cebeci was previously arrested on charges of “facilitating drug use” after a drug test reportedly came back positive. Journalist Mehmet Akif Ersoy was also arrested in connection with the case last week.
Social media influencer and business owner Sercan Yasar was released after testifying before prosecutors and benefiting from effective penitentiary provisions.
