Macron warns China: If you don't want NATO involvement in Asia, keep North Korea out of the war in Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron is warning China that its reluctance to curb North Korea's involvement in the Ukraine war could lead to NATO intervention in Asia.
"North Korea's presence in Ukraine is a big question mark for all of us. If China does not want NATO to be involved in Southeast Asia, it must prevent North Korea from acting on European soil ," the French president said during his speech at the Shangri-La Dialogue international defense forum in Singapore, according to Politico.
France has long argued that the transatlantic military alliance should not expand its influence in Asia and led the campaign to block the establishment of a NATO liaison office in Japan in 2023.
"I had expressed my opposition to NATO's role in Asia because I do not believe in getting involved in the strategic rivalries of others," Macron said, hinting that Paris could reconsider its position.
The participation of North Korean troops in Russia's military operations against Ukraine is taking place within the framework of a military pact with Russia, with Moscow using Pyongyang's soldiers to expel Ukrainian forces from the Kursk region.
