Daily Mail: Musk's Doge Army 'left Washington office filled with drugs

Elon Musk's Doge team reportedly left a state-funded institution filled with beer bottles, drugs, and cockroaches.

Musk, who resigned from his position in Donald Trump's administration last week, tried to dissolve the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) and lay off most of its employees earlier this year, but was blocked by a court order.

USIP, although established by Congress and receiving most of its funding from it, is technically an independent organization, which its leaders claim protects it from the control of Trump and his allies.

When employees returned last month, they found the office infested with cockroaches and rodents, with leftover marijuana and empty beer bottles scattered everywhere.

Colin O'Brien, the head of security at Usip, cited witnesses who said Doge employees were "smoking hashish in the building," according to Politico.

The Economist reported earlier this month that cleaners at Usip's Washington headquarters had found marijuana that appeared to have been dumped by Musk's team.

According to The New York Times, while on the campaign trail, the Tesla CEO had begun using drugs, to the point where he reportedly developed a bladder problem due to ketamine use. The newspaper cited people familiar with his activities and had access to potential evidence.

Musk denied the allegations and accused the newspaper of "lies."

O'Brien said hundreds of laptops, which had previously been handed over to Doge staff, were found piled up haphazardly on top of each other, while chargers had been thrown into the trash.

He added that many flags with the institution's name had been removed from the building.

“It was negligence,” he said. “These people don’t know how to manage a large office complex with several buildings.”

Staff carried out 'illegal invasion'
Usip became a sticking point in Musk's effort to cut government spending this year when Doge's staff tried several times to enter the building.

In March, they finally managed to get inside, prompting George Moose, the acting president of USIP, to declare that they had “forced their way into our building” and called it “an illegal invasion by elements of the executive branch.”

Several employees were forcibly removed by police and fired by the Trump administration two weeks later.

But Usip employees were reinstated and allowed back into the building in May, when a court declared the occupation "illegal" and said it had been carried out by "illegally installed executives."/ Daily Mail
