A joint operation between the justice authorities of Albania and Kosovo has made it possible to destroy a criminal group that trafficked weapons, while 14 arrest warrants have been issued.

6 citizens from Albania have been captured, identified as: Euxenio Manushi 20 years old, Endri Papa 34 years old, Aurel Manreka 28 years old, Gersi Llozha 22 years old, Kleu Mucalliu 26 years old; and 53-year-old Tonin Shkami

22 'Zoraki' firearms, an AK 47 firearm, a hand grenade and 470 cartridges of various types were found with them alone. Also, 3 vehicles and a significant amount of money and 10 mobile devices were seized. Meanwhile, on the 10th, 8 of the criminal group were arrested in Kosovo, from whom 29 pistols and 3 long guns of different models, 2635 cartridges/ammunition of different models, 2 vehicles and other equipment were seized.

Full notification of the prosecution:

The Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction, Tirana in cooperation with the Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo and with the help of EUROPOL destroyed, after more than nine months of investigations, a criminal group of arms trafficking, active in both countries.

The investigations date back to February of this year, where after the information gathered on the operative route by the Section for the Investigation of Illegal Traffic in the Local Police Directorate of Tirana on the suspicion that the VO citizen in cooperation with other persons, Albanian and Kosovar citizens, carry out the illegal activity of trafficking firearms from Kosovo to Albania, as well as the trafficking of narcotics, mainly cocaine, from Albania to Kosovo, the criminal proceedings were registered no. 1167 for the criminal offense 'Trafficking of weapons and ammunition' carried out in collaboration and 'Unauthorized production and possession of combat weapons and ammunition' provided by articles 278 and 278/a/2 of the Criminal Code.

From the investigations so far, it appears that the suspects were responsible for the supply, transport and sale of weapons or explosive materials, creating a complicated import and export route.

Since this group consisted of citizens from Kosovo and Albania, the institutions of the two countries signed in June of this year the 'Agreement on the Establishment of the Joint Investigation Team', supported by EUROPOL and the EUROJUST Project for the countries of the Western Balkans and between the region and the EU in the fight against organized crime and terrorism. Through this team, the Albanian and Kosovar authorities were able to collaborate quickly and easily, exchanging information in real time.

Following the investigations, on 10.12.2024 at around 9:00 p.m. and thereafter, the Kosovo Police, in accordance with the joint procedure, conducted police operations where, among other things, 29 pistols and 3 long guns of the following models were found and seized: various, 2635 cartridges/ammunition of different models, 2 vehicles and other ICT equipment. In coordination with the Kosovo Police immediately around 03.00 and following the date 11.12.2024 under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction in Tirana, as a function of this procedure, the operation was carried out for the execution of detention orders for 6 persons and housing control for 7 countries.
