In Pereira, Colombia, Albanian Florind Rama, also known as Florin Terziu, has been arrested.
Rama was declared internationally wanted by Interpol as a suspect in a serious incident that occurred in 2022 in Marbella, Spain, which included the kidnapping, torture and murder of a person.
The newspaper EL TIEMPO reports that the arrest was the result of a pursuit that lasted about 30 days. A team from the Pereira Metropolitan Police's search unit documented his movements in areas such as Cerritos, Pinares and Álamos, where he constantly changed vehicles and routines. This pattern of behavior raised the suspicions of intelligence analysts.
When he was arrested, he tried to identify himself as a German citizen, but investigators already had information about his Albanian origin and criminal past in Europe. It was also discovered that he used at least two passports to move to countries such as the United Kingdom, Montenegro, Serbia, Croatia, Germany and Spain. His name appears in criminal networks operating in several countries on the continent.
Authorities link him to criminal structures operating on the Costa del Sol, an area known for the presence of European drug trafficking organizations. The case for which he was wanted dates back to June 30, 2022, in the Golden Beach neighborhood of Marbella, where the body of Aleksandar K., a Serbian citizen with signs of torture and gunshot wounds, was found. The court's investigation led to arrest warrants issued in July 2022 and November 2023.
According to court files in Europe, the victim had connections to drug trafficking networks and had collaborated as an informant with German authorities.
His knowledge of criminal networks in Europe and connections to organizations in Latin America made him a key figure in these structures.
Florind Rama is linked to criminal organizations of Balkan origin, including clans operating in Montenegro, Serbia and Croatia, as well as contacts in Germany.
Authorities are also investigating possible links to drug trafficking networks in America.
During the investigation, it was determined that the perpetrators of the murder were driving specific vehicles, including a Porsche Cayenne and a Volkswagen, and ballistics matches were found linking the weapon used to other crimes on German territory.
His presence in Pereira, where he was trying to hide, opened new lines of investigation.
Authorities are analyzing possible links to local drug trafficking networks, including structures in Eje Cafetero, as well as contacts with international organizations.
The operation was carried out in cooperation between Colombian authorities, Europol and United States security agencies.
Along the same lines, the search unit in Pereira has also arrested other actors in the illegal economy, including the alias Caki.
Florind Rama is expected to face extradition to Europe, where he is wanted for crimes such as murder, illegal detention, weapons possession and participation in a criminal organization.
Meanwhile, authorities are continuing investigations into his activity in Colombia and possible links to major drug trafficking networks, including "La Cordillera", the Sinaloa and Jalisco cartel.
