Klodiana Lala on the incinerator affair: Millions in offshore, the big fish

Journalist Klodiana Lala, invited to the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV, spoke about the sentencing of several officials for the Tirana incinerator affair.

Lala said that the big fish in the affair were not investigated, while today we are in an environmental emergency and that inert materials are being deposited in rivers.

"Millions of euros have been wasted, there is no incinerator. We are in an environmental emergency. The Seized Assets Agency has informed that waste must be separated at source because there is no room. While seven people are being punished, as if they stole a chicken, not that millions of euros have been spent, while some of them have had their sentences expunged, the problem becomes more serious because the corruption affair continues today."

Go out into the rivers around Tirana and with the consent of the police, the Municipality is dumping inert materials. The soils are not deposited in the landfill because there is no capacity, they are polluting the riverbeds. An urgent investigation is needed.

There is no answer as to who is the mastermind behind the affair. Lefter Koka could not have granted 3 concessions without the cooperation and agreement of other ministers, up to the prime minister.

Designating Koka as the big fish is a big minus for the prosecution and the court.

It is an uninvestigated file. It should have been investigated as a structured group and cleared up. We have ten processes. Mërtir and Zoto are wanted, we have a number of characters wanted, ministry officials being tried in ordinary processes, dozens of factions.

"The heads who conceived it and stole the money and took it offshore have not been punished and held criminally accountable. There is no incinerator either. To build an incinerator, it takes as much money as was stolen, so it will go deeper into the pockets of Albanians. You only have to go to Sharra and the mountain of garbage is terrible," said Lala.
