The police operation codenamed "Fake Mail 2" is finalized, cracking down on another computer fraud scheme through fake Albanian Post websites.

The Cybercrime Investigation Structures, in cooperation with the Saranda Police Commissariat, in continuation of the intensive work to crack down on criminal activity in the field of cybercrime, finalized the operation codenamed "Fake Mail 2".

The investigative actions revealed that foreign citizens had created fake pages that imitated the official website of the Albanian Post and, through sending SMS messages with fraudulent links, aimed to obtain personal and banking data of Albanian citizens, with the aim of illegally obtaining monetary values ​​from their bank accounts.

As part of the operation, French citizen ZK, 22 years old, was detained, and German citizen TM, 53 years old, was declared wanted, suspected of being an accomplice in this criminal activity.

During the operation, cell phones, SIM cards, bank cards, various documents and other items suspected of being related to this criminal activity were seized.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Saranda, for further investigations, for the criminal offense of "Computer Forgery".

The State Police appeals to all citizens to:

-Do not click on suspicious links sent via SMS, emails or social networks;

-Always verify the official address of institutions before filling out personal or banking information;

-Never provide bank card numbers, security codes or passwords on unverified sites;

-To immediately report any suspected case of online fraud to the State Police.

In previous cases, several citizens have fallen victim to this fraud scheme, suffering monetary losses due to placing their banking details on fake websites.
