Arlind Lagji, the 45-year-old arrested, was driving a luxury vehicle where he first hit a pedestrian. He did not stop to give first aid or notify the authorities, but he gave gas by crashing violently into another vehicle a few meters away. On board the latter was a person who was also injured along with the pedestrian. Both were transported to the hospital.
The 45-year-old driver Arlind Lagji was the Fier Customs Director until a few months ago. Lagji was dismissed from his post after a media report showed that he had threatened to kill and raped a person with whose wife he had had an intimate relationship.
Police notification:
The accident this Monday was recorded on "Gjergj Kastrioti" street at around 17:40.
"The citizen AL (Arlind Lagji), about 45 years old, driving a 'Volkswagen' type vehicle, had an accident with the citizen IS, about 66 years old, a pedestrian on the road. The driver of the vehicle left the scene of the accident and continued moving on this road axis, where after a few meters he collided with the vehicle driven by a citizen of BC, 63 years old, the police announced.
