NAMES/ Illegal activities in waste processing in Elbasan, 16 people arrested, 9 of them foreigners

Elbasan police have arrested 16 people, 9 of them foreigners, as part of the operation codenamed "Metallurgical". The arrested are accused of engaging in illegal waste processing activities.
The arrested are Juncheol Chung, a Korean citizen, Prakash Kadel, a Nepalese citizen, Rahul Pal, Styend Pal, Munna Singh, Rajesh Yadav, Aaditiya Raj, Rahul Pal, Dheeraj Kumar, Indian citizens.
While the arrested Albanians are: Jakup Karaj, Ismail Dybeli, Dorjan Xhufka, Elton Bejkolli, Besnik Abdiaj, Elton Beqi, Eglis Flaga.
"From intensive investigations, as well as inspections carried out in cooperation with the National Inspectorate of Territorial Protection, it has resulted that two commercial entities, which were operating in the area of the former Metalurgjiku, Bradashesh, Elbasan, have violated environmental legislation, polluting the air, water and soil, as well as failing to respect the rules for integrated waste management and the processing of battery waste," the police say.
Also, for violations found regarding integrated waste management, during the inspections, administrative measures of 3,000,000 lek were imposed on one of the entities and 10,000,000 lek on the other entity, and the activities of both entities were suspended until the legal requirements were met.
