Two SPAK prosecutors clash in session, seeking different sentences for Altin

Two prosecutors of the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK), Behar Dibra and Elida Kaçkini, clashed during today's session at the Special Court of Appeal, where the hearing was held for the gardener of Altin Hajri's "Golden" complex in Shijak, Festim Bexhdili, who is accused of kidnapping Jan Prenga on January 17, 2020 in Kamëz.

Gardener Festim Bexhdili was the only defendant in the first case who was sentenced by the first instance and the Court of Appeal to life imprisonment for the kidnapping of Jan Prenga, but the Supreme Court returned the case to the Court of Appeal.

SPAK prosecutors have held different positions regarding the sentencing of Bexhdil. Prosecutor Kaçkini requested that the life sentence remain in effect, while another prosecutor, Behar Dibra, requested a sentence of 20 years in prison.

Kaçkini insisted on her position with the argument that Bizhdili was part of the structured criminal group and knew the other people accused of the incident, which she said was also confirmed by communications in the ap;lika

While prosecutor Dibra said that he was found in that situation because he is an employee of the complex and was ordered to hide the body.

The Special Court of Appeal will announce the decision on July 25, due to the complexity of the file.

Festim Bexhdili was initially sentenced to life imprisonment by the GJKKO and the Appeals Court, but the decision was later overturned by the Supreme Court, returning him for retrial to the GJKKO Appeals Court (which had previously confirmed it). SPAK suspects that Bexhdili knows where Jan Prenga's body was hidden or disposed of, but he has denied this.

Jan Prenga was kidnapped on January 17, 2020 in Kamëz. After the kidnapping, he was taken to the "Golden" complex in Shijak, owned by Altin Hajri.

According to security camera footage, Jan Prenga is suspected of being raped to death and the body is suspected to have been disposed of in the village of Pjezë, very close to the complex, while the body has not yet been found.

The kidnapping came after Jan Prenga's brother stole a container of drugs in the UK. According to SPAK, the order for Jan Prenga's kidnapping was given by Dritan (Gramoz) Rexhepi and his co-defendant Gentian Funiqi (Doda), the organization was done by defendants Martin Bleta and Korado Keshteja, while the execution of the kidnapping was done by defendants Artan Doçaj, Aldo Majnishta, Geraldo Martini and another unidentified person.

The order to kidnap Jan Prenga was given while Rexhepi was imprisoned in Ecuador, in Latin America, and was intended to coerce Prenga's brother, who had stolen a quantity of cocaine trafficked from Ecuador to England. The Prenga family also negotiated with the kidnappers and part of the cocaine was handed over, but in the meantime Jan Prenga had lost his life.

During the sessions at the Criminal Court, Dritan (Gramoz) Rexhepi) denied involvement in the kidnapping of Jan Prenga, while the other organizer, Altin Hajri, the owner of the "Golden" complex where the crime occurred, is still at large.
