The 2030 Winter Olympics will be held in France. The International Olympic Committee gave the green light at Wednesday's assembly in Paris, where the Opening Ceremony of the Summer Olympics will take place on Friday, July 26.
The winter event will be organized in the French Alps, but on the condition that financial guarantees are provided by the state and the regions.
Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, did not provide further details on the matter.
The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, has given assurances that the government that will be formed in office in the coming weeks will sign all the organizational guarantees that still need to be signed.
The International Olympic Committee welcomed the French No. 1's words and voted to approve the decision, but said guarantees must arrive by October.
The event is scheduled between 8 and 24 February 2030 and will be Europe's second consecutive Winter Olympics, as the 2026 event will take place in Milan-Cortina.
