With plaits on their heads, Albanians from the Republic of Macedonia "flock" to Albania
An increased flow of vehicles was recorded this Friday at the Qafë Thana border crossing, where thousands of Albanian fans from North Macedonia have entered Albanian territory to closely follow the long-awaited Albania-Serbia match, which takes place tonight at the "Air Albania" stadium.
Most of the fans come from Kicevo, Struga, Tetovo, Gostivar and other cities.
Dressed in red and black jerseys and national symbols, many of them wore plaits on their heads, creating a festive atmosphere right at the border.
"We expect victory. We hope that Jasir Asani and Bajrami will score tonight," several enthusiastic fans told Euronews Albania, expressing their confidence in a good performance by the Albanian national team.
To cope with the influx, authorities at Qafë Thanë have opened three counters at the entrance and three at the exit. However, the high influx has caused delays and long lines of vehicles.
