Candreva says "enough", former Inter player retires from football at the age of 38

"Thank you, football!" With this message on social media, Antonio Candreva has decided to announce his departure from playing football and his retirement from his career at the age of 38.
After a few months as a free agent, he has decided to stop waiting and hang up his boots.
"Dear football, today is one of the most important days of my life: the moment has come to greet you. Here, in 'San Siro', in the temple of football, where I played my last match. Thirty years ago my journey with you began, amidst joys and sorrows, sacrifices and victories, but, above all, with many emotions. I have lived my dream and my passion. I do not consider it a farewell, but a new starting point. Thank you, football, see you soon!" - Candreva says in the video published on Instagram.
He began his professional career with Ternana in 2004, then moved to Udinese, where he was loaned to several clubs (Livorno, Juventus, Parma, Cesena) before consolidating himself as a player.
In 2012, he moved to Lazio, where he won the Coppa Italia. Then, in 2016, he moved to Inter, amassing over 150 appearances in four seasons.
Candreva wore the Salernitana jersey until 2024. He played 54 matches with the Italian national team, scored 7 goals and participated in the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 European Championship.
