Balaj returns to Belgrade: Great night, unforgettable!

Bekim Balaj has spent many years in the ranks of the Albanian national football team, being its protagonist with very important goals like the one against Portugal. But in people's minds, the "fight for the flag" in Belgrade will remain especially, where Balaj was among the first to take the "Autochthonous" flag from the hands of Serbian footballers.

An unforgettable moment for many for the way Albanian footballers did everything to protect Albanian symbols, as Bekim Balaj himself recalls, on the eve of another match between Albania and Serbia. "It is a match that is engraved and remains in everyone's memory, I can say about the circumstances that were and in that match the boys all did their best. Even though we were few in number, we did not lack anything to protect our symbols", said Balaj after a motivational meeting in Shkodër with young people, within the framework of the "Let's say it in Shkodër" Initiative.

However, Balaj hopes that in Saturday's match, the mind will be only on football on the playing field. "Maybe at this moment we are in a different situation, this match is major for the objectives we have, as we can see Serbia as the direct opponent for a possible qualification in a World Cup.

A dream for all Albanians that I believe this group has the strength to make a reality. And starting from this match in Tirana, I think the boys should stay calm, they should be cool-headed and maybe not get carried away by that atmosphere on the stadium steps because the emotional load is great for such a match. I hope they will be cool-headed and do their best on the field of play and we will manage to come out with a victory that would be worth a lot to us", said the Shkodran striker.
