Lewis Capaldi returns after two years: I didn't leave to get better, but because I couldn't handle it anymore
After a long break from music, Lewis Capaldi has made a heartfelt and honest return to the music scene, thrilling audiences and fans with his personal account of his struggles with mental health and the pressures of fame.
The Scottish singer, now 28, has touched the hearts of his followers with a video recently published on social media, where he talks about the difficult moments that forced him to retire from the spotlight and the emotions that accompanied his long-awaited return, culminating in his performance at the Glastonbury Festival last weekend.
"If I had to describe how I feel right now in one word, it would be: spectacular," Capaldi said, with an emotion rarely displayed publicly by artists of this caliber.
In the video shared with fans, he reflected on his moment at Glastonbury in 2023, an achievement that for many would be the pinnacle of his career, but which for him was a wake-up call.
" This should have been one of the happiest moments of my life... but it wasn't ," he confessed. "I had fulfilled my dream, but I felt like I wasn't there. When I watched the video later, I only felt sadness."
Capaldi admitted that he felt the need to step away from the stage, not to embark on a journey of self-development, but simply because he had reached a limit. “ I didn’t step away to work on myself. I stepped away because I needed a break. I just couldn’t take it anymore, ” he said openly.
In the emotional video, he also included footage from his childhood, a young Capaldi with a microphone in his hand, full of passion for music. The video's description was equally touching:
" It's been crazy to look back on this whole journey. Thank you for still being here."
