SPAK has extended the deadline for investigations against the president of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, by 6 months.

In a statement to the media, the lawyer for the PL president, Kujtim Cakrani, said outside the premises of the Special Prosecution Office that this is the second time that SPAK has extended the investigations into Meta.

The lawyer said that SPAK gave the explanation as insufficient evidence.

"He says we are waiting for evidence, an expert report from Meta's ex-mother-in-law, that Mr. Meta has a connection ," the lawyer said.

He expressed his outrage at the delay in the investigations, while warning that PL will take the matter to the Strasbourg Court.

"We live in an electoral autocracy! We will take the matter to the European Court ," said Cakrani.

The lawyer for the PL president, Kujtim Cakrani: He has been in detention for over 7 months... and the prosecution must ask the court every two months to verify the security measure, and the prosecution has not done so.

We have not made the request and we will reflect these later in the Strasbourg Court.

The Special Prosecution Office has extended the deadlines for investigations by 6 months. This is the second time they have done so.

Next week we will submit the request to the Constitutional Court regarding security measures, and if we do not receive a response, we will turn to Strasbourg.
