Vote trafficking within DP candidates, Berisha: Theft not yet proven
The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, declared today that he will support all candidates who request a recount of votes, but refused to comment on the findings so far from the opening of several ballot boxes, which show that some candidates have received the votes of other candidates within the opposition list.
At a press conference, he said that the candidates will stand by their demand for transparency, but that does not mean that the party shares the belief that there are suspicions of vote theft.
" What is happening at the CEC should be clear to all Albanians that the first position of the DP-ASHM is this: we do not accept the legitimacy of these elections. We have sued every district for the legitimacy of the elections. We have endless documents ," said Berisha.
According to him, " transparency is an indisputable right of every individual. In this context, the DP does not hinder any of its candidates who seek transparency. It will even support them since the law does not justify the candidates and the party's support is needed in this process, everyone demands that transparency be supported without any prejudice. I think that neither you nor I can talk about theft for unproven things. Those who suspect that their votes have been diverted, we support for transparency. But this does not come because the party shares their suspicion, but comes because the party fulfills the right to transparency."
The recount of several ballot boxes has so far revealed that Xhemal Gjunkshi in Dibër was missing 17 votes, while Përparim Spahiu had 49 votes added.
Meanwhile, Aulon Kalaja in Durrës and Ilir Alimehmeti in Tirana have also been accused of vote trafficking.
