"We couldn't marry the EU today" / Rama joked with the Prime Minister of Denmark! Mette Frederiksen: The enlargement process depends on meritocracy

At the press conference following the European Political Community Summit, Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen, were asked about the issue of the integration of the Western Balkans into the European Union and Albania's progress in this regard.
Rama responded with humor: "We couldn't get married today!"
For her part, Frederiksen stressed that the enlargement process must continue, but underlined that everything will depend on the criteria of meritocracy. “Some countries have done a pretty good job. We have to be together, but this process has to be based on merit. It was not officially part of the agenda, but everyone understands how important this issue is,” she said.
Rama clarified that the format of this summit is not directly related to EU enlargement or the accession process. However, he mentioned that the President of the European Council had given a long speech regarding the current position and the steps that need to be taken.
“We must do what is ours and then ask them to do what is theirs,” Rama concluded.
