The opposition's deep defeat, Zogaj: DP over 250 thousand votes away from the SP, cannot be justified by electoral manipulations

Analyst Preç Zogaj was critical of the opposition, which lost heavily in the May 11 elections. On the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV, Zogaj said that while in the 2021 elections the opposition had only 37 thousand votes behind the SP, now it is over 250 thousand votes less and this cannot be explained by electoral manipulation.

"It is very positive that a fact-finding mission is coming here to ensure transparency regarding many aspects of the elections. The opposition always uses manipulation to suppress discussions about developments within it."

There are some of the most serious electoral manipulations here. They have a register, with a number of voters who are nominally controlled, around 750 thousand, and this makes the rotation hopeless. On the other hand, we have the opposition that is decreasing, not because the SP has increased.

The OSCE/ODIHR report has not yet been released. The 2021 report is the worst with the most criticisms about the elections. The final report provides precise recommendations on electoral problems. Many criticisms were found, and the patronage of over 900,000 citizens was also denounced.

We are in the same story, but in 2021 the opposition in Albania, even with electoral bonuses, was only 37 thousand votes away from the SP. The opposition of 2025 is over 250 thousand votes away from the SP, so it is not only due to electoral manipulations.

In 4 years, the opposition would not only recover 37 thousand, but would also come out 7 points ahead. But almost 7 polling companies predicted the opposition's deep defeat, there was no mystery about what would happen in Albania.

"The biggest problem for me, which deserves attention and commitment, is the equality of elections. And the second is the use of money in elections. Here, only those who do not have money do not buy votes. This has been legislated de facto here," said Zogaj.
