Efforts to ease tensions? Kurti meets with Bedri Hamza in South Mitrovica

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti held a meeting with the Democratic Party of Kosovo's candidate for prime minister, and also mayor of the Municipality of South Mitrovica, Bedri Hamza.
The meeting took place at Hamza's office in Mitrovica, where Kurti stayed this Monday for a visit. The meeting between the two was commented on as an effort towards easing political tensions and making institutions functional.
After the talks, neither Kurti nor Hamza gave press statements, but in a reaction, acting government spokesman Përparim Kryeziu said that the purpose of the visit was to discuss the work of the municipalities and cooperation with the government. Kurti also met today with the mayor of North Mitrovica, Erden Atiq.
During his visit to the north, where he was accompanied by the acting Minister of Interior, Xhelal Sveçla, and the Minister of Local Government Administration, Kurti also inaugurated a new police station in Izvor, two kilometers from the border with Serbia.
