Renowned Quran reciter from Kosovo stopped at Boston airport, denied entry to US

Hafiz Egzon Ibrahim is denied entry to the US.

The well-known Quran reciter from Kosovo, who had planned a religious tour of several Islamic centers in America, was stopped by American immigration authorities upon arriving at Boston airport and then returned on the first flight back to where he had come from.

Although the 24-year-old from Kosovo had a regular American visa in his passport, issued by the US Embassy in Pristina, sources from "Ma Shqip" near immigration in Boston indicate that he was questioned by border control officers and then refused entry to American territory. The official reason for this decision has not been made public so far.

The news was later confirmed by the Islamic center that had invited him to the US. In a reaction on social media, "Al Huda Community Center", an Islamic center in Chelsea, Boston, announced the cancellation of the activity that was planned for Sunday evening.

In the first post, published at around 12:30 p.m. local time in the U.S., the center wrote: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Qari Egzon was not allowed to enter the U.S., despite having a valid visa. As a result, the U.S. tour has been canceled for the time being. We appreciate your understanding and prayers during this time.”

But just a few hours later, the post was edited and the wording changed. In its second response, the center avoids directly mentioning the denial of entry to the U.S. and writes: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we regret to inform you that Qari Egzon’s tour has been postponed until further notice. We are currently working to reschedule the dates and will provide updates as soon as possible, in sha Allah. We appreciate your support and thank you for your patience and prayers during this time.”

Al Huda Society is an Islamic center that functions as a mosque, religious school, and activity center for the Muslim community in the Boston area. For more than 20 years, it has been organizing religious lectures, Quran lessons, and programs for Muslim youth in Massachusetts.

"Ma Shqip" sources have not provided details on the specific reason for Hafiz Egzon Ibrahim's refusal to enter the US, while American authorities have not made any public comment on the case.

However, after Donald Trump returned to the White House, controls at US border crossings and airports have been significantly tightened. Immigration officers have full authority to refuse entry to a person even if he has a valid US visa.

Hafiz Egzon Ibrahimi was scheduled to hold several religious activities at Islamic centers in the US, but after being detained at the airport, the entire tour was canceled. So far, Ibrahimi himself has not made any public comment on the incident.

The 24-year-old from Kosovo has become very well-known on social networks and in the Islamic world for his recitation of the Quran, where he has participated in international competitions and has been praised for his voice.

For years, he has also been interpreting ilahi in Albanian, using musical elements, which has also brought criticism from various religious circles.

A short time ago , he was also invited to Turkey for an event attended by Turkish President  Recep Tayyip Erdogan./ MaShqip
