The Constitutional Court overturns Vjosa Osmani's decree, the Assembly has 34 days to elect the President

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo has ruled that Decree No. 24/2026 of March 6, 2026 of the President of the Republic, Vjosa Osmani, does not produce any legal effect.
In the judgment issued in relation to the request of the Vetëvendosje Movement, the Court obliges the Members of Parliament to have 34 days, from the entry into force of this decision, to conduct and complete the procedure for electing the President of the Republic of Kosovo.
The court has clarified that if the Assembly fails to elect the President within this deadline, then it is automatically dissolved based on the Constitution. In this case, early parliamentary elections must be held within 45 days.
Also, with the entry into force of this judgment, the interim measure imposed on March 9, 2026, is also repealed.
The decision of the Constitutional Court enters into force immediately and will be published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Kosovo.
