Two Myzeqar dances declared National Heritage Value, paving the way for UNESCO

Two dances of the Myzeqer tradition, the Ngjala Dance and the Dyshe Myzeqer Dance, have been declared national intangible cultural heritage values.

This was achieved after an application made by the Municipality of Lushnja to the Ministry of Culture and a six-month work to prepare the documentation. This decision by experts at the Ministry also paves the way for the application to UNESCO.

The Dyshe Myzeqare Dance is among the most complex in the area, with over 200 movement elements, while the Eel Dance is ritualistic, very old with characteristic formations.

The aim is now to preserve them and pass them on to the younger generations, while these dances are performed mainly in Lushnja, Divjaka and Fier.
