Albania, the second "homeland" of Italians? In the first 4 months of the year, around 301 thousand citizens entered

According to the latest data from INSTAT, after Kosovo Albanians who traditionally lead in the number of entries into Albania, Italians are the second in terms of the number of visits to the country. During the first four months of 2025, a total of 301,457 Italian citizens entered Albanian territory, marking an increase of 7.1% compared to the same period last year, when around 281 thousand entries were registered. We emphasize that in 2023 and 2024 there were around 950 thousand and 1.2 million Italian citizens, respectively.
The busiest month was April, with nearly 96,000 Italian visitors, followed by March with around 78,000 arrivals. In comparison, January and February had lower numbers, with February being the month with the fewest visitors from Italy.
This growing influx is not only related to seasonal tourism. More and more Italians are coming to Albania for economic, work or investment reasons, as there are a significant number of Italian businesses in the country. In addition, lower prices for services, especially in some health areas, are making Albania increasingly attractive to Italian citizens, especially those in their third age, who are seeing our country as a convenient alternative to live.
The data shows an increasingly strong connection between Albania and Italy, not only through tourism, but also through social, economic and cultural ties. This trend is expected to continue to grow, especially during the summer months, having a significant impact on sectors such as tourism, the real estate market and private services in the country./ SCAN
