2.4 million visitors came to Albania in 4 months/ Visits from Southern and Western Europe dominate

During the month of April, a total of 1.5 million citizens, including both Albanian and foreign citizens, entered the territory of Albania. These data, published by the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT), show an increase of 6% compared to the same period last year. Of this total, 667,998 were Albanian citizens, marking an increase of 9.6%, while 819,151 were foreign citizens, with a more moderate increase of 3.2%.

On the other hand, during the same month, a total of 1.5 million exits from Albanian territory were recorded, an increase of 5.9% compared to last April. Within this number, 683,983 were Albanian citizens and 801,243 were foreigners.

When we look at the data for the four-month period January-April 2025, it is noted that around 4.8 million citizens have entered Albania, with an almost equal distribution between domestic citizens and foreigners. The number of foreign entries for four months is estimated at around 2.4 million.

This figure represents an increase of 6.4% compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, exits from the country during this time have been at a higher level, reaching around 5 million people and reflecting an annual increase of 6.2%.

According to the origin of foreign nationals who have entered the country, Europe continues to be the main region, with particular emphasis on its southern and western parts, from where over 2 million entries have been recorded.

Regarding the purpose of travel, in 97% of cases, entries were made for personal reasons, such as holidays or visits to relatives, a category that has marked an increase of 0.8%. Entry for business reasons has undergone a significant expansion, with an annual increase of 40.8%. However, the data is not uniformly positive, as entry for health treatment has fallen significantly, with a significant decrease of 72.4% compared to the same period last year./ SCAN
