Fruit imports mark the fourth highest value in 20 years/ Analysis of April data shows that one kilogram of fruit cost an average of 80 lek

Fruit imports in Albania have taken on an important role in securing the domestic market throughout the year. Due to the short domestic production season and the growing demand for various fruits, Albania imports mainly citrus and tropical fruits from countries such as Italy, Greece and Spain. This import helps meet consumer needs and stabilize prices, but it also challenges local production to increase quality and competitiveness in the market.
According to the latest data from INSTAT on foreign trade, the value of fruit imports for April this year is estimated at 861 million lekë. This value has reached the fourth highest record of imports since January 2005.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, if we analyze imports by weight, that is, by volume, we see that the value is recorded at around 10 million kilograms.
"Scan Intel" has made a brief calculation to see how much fruit imports are worth per kilogram during the fourth month of the year.
According to figures, in April, one kilogram of imported fruit cost about 80 lekë on average. The value is more or less the same in the first four months of the year. However, if we compare it with the same month last year, it seems that we bought one kilogram of fruit more expensively./ SCAN
