In recent years, Albania has become one of the most popular destinations in the region, experiencing a significant increase in the number of visitors, especially after the pandemic. This increase in popularity has led to the country being visited by an increasing number of tourists, placing Albania on the international tourism map.

Although most foreign nationals come to enjoy a few days of vacation, there is also a lack of those who travel for other reasons, such as business or employment. At the same time, many Albanians travel for vacation, while emigrants continue to return to their homeland for family, social or cultural reasons.

Regardless of the purpose of travel, entry into the Albanian territory is carried out through three main routes: land, air and sea. If we analyze the data published by INSTAT for the first four months of the year, it turns out that around 1.4 million foreign citizens entered the country via air transport. On the other hand, land transport is the most used form of travel, with around 3.2 million visitors, including both Albanians and foreigners. While sea transport remains the least preferred form, with around 127 thousand entries in the same period.

Based on calculations based on these data, it turns out that out of every five people entering Albania, three use land routes, one to two travel by plane, while very few choose the sea route. In percentage terms, this corresponds to 66.8% for land transport, 30.6% for air transport and only 2.6% for sea transport, clearly showing the dominance of land routes in the flow of visitors to Albania.

In total, according to an analysis published by Scan Intel, it turns out that during the first four months of the year, around 4.8 million people entered Albania. April turns out to be the month with the highest number of entries for all transport categories, which can be directly related to the approach of the tourist season and preparations for summer./ SCAN
