Zelensky in The Hague stresses the need for security guarantees in case of peace

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stressed the need for security guarantees from Europe and the United States in the event of a possible peace agreement, during a visit to The Hague today.

"Ukraine needs legally binding commitments," Zelensky said after talks with acting Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof.

"There are many questions about how we can get protection without being a member of NATO," Zelensky said.

"We need to receive support and it is important for us to have all security guarantees," he added.

"At yesterday's talks in Berlin, European and American participants promised concrete contributions to the country's security ," Zelensky said.

He did not say which countries were willing to participate in the agreed multinational security force.

"A document describing these details would be published only after a ceasefire ," Zelensky stressed.

Zelensky said the negotiations would now continue in Miami, where Russia is also expected to give its response. He said he would not be present at the talks.
