Tragic death of 16-year-old victim of AI-generated photo sexual torture scam

In February, Elijah “Eli” Heacock, 16, of Glasgow, Kentucky, received a threatening message from an anonymous person who sent him nude photos of himself, generated by artificial intelligence, and demanded $3,000 in exchange for not sharing them with family and friends.

On February 28, Elijah was found dead in hospital from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His parents discovered threatening messages and a series of uploaded photos on his phone, it is understood that the victim had faced financial and psychological torture.

According to the FBI, this form of sexual torture, where victims are threatened to give money in exchange for not distributing compromising materials – often artificially generated – has increased significantly and has caused many suicides.

Elijah's parents are asking for help to combat this tragic phenomenon and express their desire that no other family experiences the pain they have gone through.
