"I don't take drugs," Elon Musk attacks the media for publishing the report
American billionaire Elon Musk has strongly denied a confidential report that alleges drug use during the 2024 election campaign. The report caused an uproar in Washington.
Shortly before Musk appeared alongside US President Donald Trump at the White House, the well-known American media outlet, the New York Times, reported that the Tesla and SpaceX boss had taken so much ketamine during the 2024 election campaign that it had caused him bladder problems.
“To be clear, I don’t do drugs,” Musk said on X in response to a New York Times report, emphasizing the word “no” in capital letters. The newspaper lashed out at Musk: “The New York Times lied mercilessly,” it said.
Musk's drug use has been a concern, according to the report. The entrepreneur has also reportedly taken ecstasy and hallucinogenic mushrooms and carried a bottle of the drugs with him last year. According to the New York Times, it is unclear whether Musk used drugs while serving as a Trump administration adviser.
Musk has commented on this, saying he tried ketamine "on prescription" a few years ago. This is nothing new, he said. Regarding his use of ketamine, he explained: "It helps get you out of dark mental holes, but I haven't taken it since."
Musk dodged a reporter's question about his alleged drug use during his official farewell to the White House. In this context, a large bruise on his right eye attracted particular attention. When a reporter asked what had happened to the eye, Musk said that his five-year-old son X had caused the injury.
Musk was responsible for cutting red tape at the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in the Trump administration. Doge's drastic job cuts and ministerial positions had caused much discontent. After four months as Trump's special adviser, the tech billionaire finally announced his departure from the White House this week.
