How many Albanians live in the Middle East?

Around 2,962 Albanian citizens live as residents in the Middle East region, while another 543 are there as travelers. The data was announced by the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, during his report to the Parliamentary Committee for Europe and Foreign Affairs on the measures taken for the protection and assistance of Albanian citizens in this region.
According to him, the escalation of the security situation in the Middle East has also brought concerns for Albania in political and humanitarian terms, as many Albanian citizens live and work in the countries affected by the crisis. For this reason, their security remains a priority of the Albanian Government and the Foreign Service.
The Minister announced that since the beginning of the crisis, a special headquarters has been set up in the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, which operates continuously, 24 hours a day. This headquarters, in cooperation with the leaders of the ministry and in constant coordination with the Albanian diplomatic missions in the region, follows every development and maintains direct contact with Albanian citizens to provide them with information, advice and assistance.
According to the data presented, Albanian embassies have managed to individually contact 2,511 Albanian citizens. Of these, 138 citizens have expressed interest in leaving the conflict zone, while 703 citizens have been assisted or instructed to leave through various forms of transportation.
So far, 24 citizens have left individually, while 45 others are planned to leave individually through safe transportation routes./ skyweb.al
