Robbery of 3 banks in Pakistan, one policeman and one civilian killed, two

"It was an organised armed robbery in which at least three banks were looted, worth around 150 million rupees (around 550,000 euros) ," said a Panjgur police officer.

"They attempted to rob two other banks before clashes with security forces broke out, forcing them to flee ," the source added.

A policeman and a shopkeeper were killed in the exchange of fire. Two other policemen were injured. The attacks took place in an area where armed separatist groups operate. No one has claimed responsibility so far.

A senior government official confirmed the events, saying 50-60 gunmen arrived in the area on 12 motorcycles and four cars. “They were separatists from the Balochistan Liberation Army,” he said, an organization considered a terrorist organization by Pakistan, the United States and other countries, the official said.

Balochistan province borders Iran and Afghanistan. It is rich in minerals and hydrocarbons, but 70% of its residents are poor.

The Balochistan Liberation Army has carried out attacks on foreign investors, security forces and Pakistanis outside the province. In March, it hijacked a train carrying more than 450 passengers, killing dozens in its two-day siege.
