Second round of Russia-Ukraine negotiations concludes in Istanbul: Peace and

The second round of negotiations between the delegations of Russia and Ukraine took place today at the Çirağan Palace in Istanbul and ended after about 1.5 hours of intense discussions.

The talks opened with a short speech by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who noted the importance of international efforts to establish peace in Ukraine.

He emphasized the United States' support for this process, stating: "Mr. Trump's determination to restore peace has opened a new window of opportunity."

Fidan said that the preparation of a possible meeting between the leaders of the two countries was discussed in this round, while underlining that the main objective remains the achievement of a lasting peace. "Turkey is ready to take every step to facilitate this process," he declared.

One of the main issues discussed was the agreement on the exchange of prisoners – 1,000 people from each side – a decision that had been reached in the previous round of negotiations on May 16, also in Istanbul.

"The whole world is following these talks closely. We hope for concrete results that will bring us closer to peace," the Turkish minister added.

It is expected that in the coming hours there will be official statements from both sides to make public the specific topics discussed and any possible agreements that may have been reached.
