"NATO should stay away, they were useless when needed", Trump: Israel

US President Donald Trump has criticized NATO in his latest post on "Truth Social".

Despite Keir Starmer and Emmanuel Macron saying the UK and France would lead a neutral and defensive military mission to protect the ships, Trump has rejected any offers of assistance from his NATO allies.

"Now that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz is over, I received a call from NATO asking if we would need assistance," the president wrote.

"I TOLD THEM TO STAY AWAY, UNLESS THEY JUST WANT TO FILL THEIR SHIPS WITH OIL."

"They were useless when needed, a Paper Tiger!"

Trump posted his comments about NATO following another statement on his Truth Social platform, in which Trump declared that Israel is "forbidden" from bombing Lebanon.

Trump said the US would "take all the nuclear 'dust'", referring to any debris from US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities last year.

“No money will be exchanged in any way, shape or form,” he said.

"This agreement is in no way subordinate to Lebanon, but the US, separately, will work with Lebanon and deal with the Hezbollah situation in an appropriate manner."

He added that, in addition to the US deal with the Iranian-backed Hezbollah group, Israel "will no longer bomb Lebanon" and that "enough is enough."
