California governor sues Trump administration over use of National Guard

California Governor Gavin Newsom announced that the state will sue the Trump administration for deploying the National Guard to Los Angeles to suppress protests against federal deportation actions.
In an interview with Fox News, Newsom explained that the lawsuit will challenge the Trump administration's action to federalize the California National Guard without the state's consent, a step that has no precedent in American history.
Responding on Fox News, Gavin Newsom said: “There’s a reason we’re going to court tomorrow,” adding that he was confident they would succeed. The California governor announced yesterday evening that California will sue the Trump administration today for deploying the National Guard to suppress protests in LA against federal deportation actions.
He told MSNBC that the lawsuit would challenge Trump's federalization of the California National Guard without the state's consent, a move that has little precedent in the country's history.
When asked to further explain the lawsuit, Newsom said that under Trump's executive order , "it's clearly stated and according to what [the Department of Defense] did — they were supposed to coordinate with the governor of the state. They never did that coordination with the governor of the state," he said.
