Hundreds of people, including representatives of the far-right, gathered in Magdeburg 24 hours after the deadly attack on the Christmas market, which left at least five dead and 200 injured.

Hundreds of worshipers, including German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, attended the city's cathedral in a memorial service dedicated to victims' families, rescue teams and guests. A large crowd of people gathered outside the church to watch the memorial service on a large screen, laying flowers and lighting candles.

Hundreds more occupied the city's central square, where some displayed far-right banners.
