MP in France caught buying drugs on the street

A far-left lawmaker in France has been caught by police buying synthetic drugs from an underage street vendor.
It is about La France Insoumise (LFI) party deputy, 34-year-old Andy Kerbrat, who was caught by police on October 17 with 1.35 grams of 3-Methylmethcathinone, prosecutors told Agence France-Presse (AFP).
3-MMC is a drug intended to mimic the effects of cocaine and is available for half the price of real cocaine. The popularity of 3-MMC is growing rapidly in France.
The teenage thief also had a gram of synthetic drugs with him, as well as 200 euros. Kerbrat, who is at large, is being investigated for illegal drug use.
Through a post on the X social network, he said he would seek medical attention for his addiction.
The parliamentary leader of the LFI, Mathilde Panot, said that "addiction is a health issue", adding that she hoped that Kerbrat could quickly return to the work of the National Assembly.
