"EU in political blindness", Kremlin: Trump, the only Western leader who understands Russia

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in the Federation Council this morning, praised Donald Trump as the only Western leader who shows an understanding of Moscow's position on Ukraine.

Lavrov also attacked the UK and the EU, saying both were in hopeless political blindness and were deceiving themselves with the illusion of overcoming Russia.

TASS further reported that Lavrov said Moscow has no intention of going to war with Europe. Instead, Russia remains ready to respond if troops are deployed in Ukraine.

Lavrov spoke about his discussions on the peace plan with US envoy Steve Witkoff in Moscow last week, saying Trump's chief negotiator spoke about the need to ensure the rights of national minorities in Ukraine.
