Fire in the building in Tirana/ Police Chief Hita: We have not yet been able to check all the apartments to assess the damage!

The Director General of the Ministry of Interior, Arben Cara, stated that the flames in the building in Tirana have not yet been fully localized, while adding that work is underway to extinguish the fire inside the apartments.

"It is still too early to say that the fire has been extinguished, as work is underway to localize the fire sources inside the apartments. We have made it possible to localize the fire so that it does not spread to the surrounding towers. Tirana has mobilized all firefighting capacities. I have communicated with the Director of the State Police, the Director General of Civil Emergencies, the Minister of Interior and now we are working intensively to localize the fire sources. We cannot say how many apartments have been burned, but we can say that the fire has engulfed the entire section from the north-east, from the first floor to the last floor", said Cara, among other things.
The Director General of Police, Skënder Hita, said that not all apartments have yet been checked to make a full assessment of the damage caused by the fire.

"There were two residents evacuated by the fire services and the Police services from the first moment. They do not have serious health problems except for asphyxia. We have not made a final assessment of the consequences. After extinguishing the fire, we will let you know the final assessment of the damages. Fire service employees have been reported to the QSUT. They are in good health and do not have serious problems. FNSH units, special RENEA units have been made available to open the doors, so that there would be no loss of life. Not all apartments have been checked yet. We are collecting all the necessary evidence. We will take all the security cameras and carry out all investigative procedures. And if the fire was started by outsiders, there will definitely be extreme measures.
