Greek media have revealed new details regarding the murder of 41-year-old Albanian Altin Arapaj in Greece, who was found dead among vineyards in a rural area of ​​Rafina.

A 46-year-old man was arrested for the incident, after the victim, before he died, called his wife, giving her the name of the perpetrator, who was in an apartment in Glyka Nera. In addition, two other people were arrested who are suspected of being accomplices.

How a phone call led to an arrest

The suspected murderer, also of Albanian origin, was found in an Airbnb apartment in Glyka Nera at 11:55 p.m. on Thursday by DIAS police officers, who rushed to the scene after receiving a call, not knowing until that moment that he was the person they were looking for. However, when the police realized that he was a suspected perpetrator, they stopped and handcuffed him.

The 46-year-old alleged perpetrator is charged with intentional homicide while in a state of mental insanity and illegal possession of a weapon, while the other two people are charged with complicity in intentional homicide.

According to reports, the tragedy began to unfold on Wednesday morning, when the victim's wife contacted authorities and described how the 41-year-old called her and told her that a specific person, whom she mentioned, had shot him in the face, asking her to try to find him.

The investigation revealed that the perpetrator, the victim and two other people met last Tuesday evening in Artemida. They then got into a car driven by the person named by the victim as the perpetrator and stopped for a few minutes at the intersection of Pefkon and Arionos streets in Rafina. The perpetrator then pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the face, specifically in the cheek.

The 41-year-old fled the scene on foot, managed to call his wife and tell her he had been shot, and then died. The perpetrator fled in a car. It should be noted that both the perpetrator and the victim were in the hands of the authorities for drug cases.
