A serious incident has shaken the city of Piacenza, where a young Albanian woman has lost her life after falling from a height. The victim is 20-year-old Anxhela Byku, who died in hospital after falling from about eight meters below her apartment on Via Beverora.
According to local media, the incident is suspected to have been a tragic accident, and not a deliberate act or the result of third-party intervention. This is also the main lead being investigated by the Arma dei Carabinieri.
The young woman, known to friends and family as Angi, was found lying in the courtyard of the palace by a neighbor on Tuesday morning in a very serious condition. She was rushed to the hospital, but could not survive the injuries sustained from the fall.
According to preliminary investigations, the 20-year-old was cooking at home that morning when she was allegedly distracted by the doorbell and left the apartment without taking her keys with her. Left outside and unable to enter, she allegedly attempted to climb the facade of the building, holding onto the railings, to reach the balcony of her second-floor apartment.
During this attempt, she lost her balance and fell from a height of about 8 meters, losing her life.
