Darkness in Tirana, Yzberishti without electricity for several hours

Part of the Yzberisht area in Tirana has been in complete darkness for more than 5 hours due to a power outage.

It is learned that the electricity was cut off around 4:00 PM, and while residents have been hoping that it might be restored, hours pass and it seems that there is no reaction from the authorities.

Following residents' concerns, at around 19:25, the Distribution System Operator reacted on social media, announcing that electricity had been cut off due to a cable defect and stating that work was being carried out on the ground.

"Due to a defect in the cable supplied by NST Kashar, electricity has been partially cut off in the Yzberisht area.

“Currently, the breakdown teams are on the ground and are working to eliminate the breakdown and restore power to all areas affected by the fault.” – the post states.

Apparently, OSHEE groups are spending hours fixing a cable defect in the middle of Tirana, while the administrator of this institution, Blendjan Dalipaj, continues to make tenders worth hundreds of millions of euros.

The lack of electricity has left families living in apartment buildings without water, due to the malfunctioning of water pumps.

The clock is ticking to 10:00 PM and it looks like part of the Yzberisht area will end February 27th in darkness.
