Ilaria Sula's father recounts the difficult months after losing his

Flamur Sula, the father of 22-year-old Albanian Ilaria Sula, who was killed by her ex-partner, in an interview with Italian media expressed the pain and emptiness left by the terrible event that took his daughter's life.

Ilaria's father expressed the sadness that his family will not be able to overcome and at the same time said that he is determined to follow through on the incident to seek justice for his daughter.

He said that the wound and pain left behind by Ilaria's murder has not only not healed, but has grown even more day by day.  "It is an inexplicable pain ," said Flamur Sula.

Meanwhile, Sula also called on the Italian government to react to these macabre cases of violence against women, as according to him it is a phenomenon that is becoming more frequent day by day.

Ilaria's case is not the only one of its kind in recent months, as the same fate befell 22-year-old Martina, who was also killed by her ex-partner. Another time a girl was killed by her ex-partner. How did you feel when you learned this?

Flamur Sula: Since Ilaria was killed, I barely turn on the TV, I don't read the newspapers. I don't really care about what happens. But when I learned what had happened in Naples, I felt bad. It was like experiencing everything again. By what right does someone kill a girl like my daughter, or like Martina?

Martina's ex-boyfriend also participated in the search, feigning concern.

Flamur Sula: This gives me chills. I can't understand how there can be so much coldness, so much cruelty, how they can be so capable of lying. Girls are killed for nothing and this happens all the time.

Do you think something could be done to stop this?

Flamur Sula: The government needs to do something, take strong measures. I don't know what these guys read or study, but it seems like something is wrong, something is missing. We only thought about working, about building a life. Today there is only fear.”

Have you ever been afraid for Ilarian?

Flamur Sula: Never, because I knew my daughter, I trusted her. She was a fair girl, who would never allow herself to behave the way someone else wanted. For this reason, I really want to understand what happened.

You also have a son, he just turned 18. Are you afraid for him?

Flamur Sula: Of course I do, from time to time. But, I constantly talk to my son, I tell him that if he has a girl, he should understand, that “no” means “no”, and if she ever leaves, he should accept it and close it with that. We went through and are going through all of this, it's a nightmare that I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Is there anything you want to say about Martina's family?

Flamur Sula: I'm really sorry, that's all I can say. I understand their pain, it's something that doesn't go away. My wife is devastated, I'm not sure there can ever be normalcy for us. Our lives, our days, are focused only on what is our only daily route: from home to the cemetery. Nothing else.

Does the idea of justice give you comfort?

Flamur Sula: I will not rest until he is in prison forever. I still can't understand, I can't understand how he could do such a thing. Until my last breath, I will seek justice for Ilarian. I will never give up.

Flamur Sula: There can be no forgiveness for people who can do such things. What happened to Ilarian and the girl from Naples is not a road accident, a disaster. They were killed intentionally. Somewhere, someone has decided that another person no longer has the right to live. This cannot and should not be acceptable.
