The touching story of the PSG coach that will make you cry: I want to make my daughter proud every day...

Luis Enrique will take charge of a Champions League final for the second time in his career this month, after guiding Paris Saint-Germain to victory over Arsenal.
Ten years after his historic victory with Barcelona, the Spanish coach will return to the bench of the biggest match in club football – an achievement that few would deny him, especially considering the personal tragedy he experienced six years ago.
In 2019, Enrique stepped down from managing the Spanish national team to spend more time with his daughter, Xana, who had been diagnosed with bone cancer. Sadly, Xana passed away at the age of just 9 on August 29, 2019, leaving a deep void in the lives of the coach and his wife, Elena Cullell.
However, despite the pain of loss, Enrique has chosen to live with the beautiful memories of his daughter. In a touching interview last year, he said: “Can I say I’m lucky or unlucky? I think I’m very lucky. ‘But your daughter died at the age of nine.’ Yes, but she came into our lives for nine wonderful years. We have thousands of memories, videos, incredible things.”
In a touching video, Enrique shows a moment where Xana performs a gymnastic routine in the garden, as her family looks on with pride. He also remembers that his mother could not keep photos of Xana at home because of the pain, but Enrique convinced her: “Xana is alive. Not in the physical plane, but in the spiritual plane. Because we talk about her every day, we laugh and remember her. I want Xana to be proud of the way we are living.”
Enrique returned to Spain's management just three months after the defeat and led the team to the 2022 World Cup. After the elimination by Morocco, he left, but did not stay long off the bench. In July 2023, he was appointed coach of PSG, at a time when the club had lost stars such as Lionel Messi and Neymar, and then Kylian Mbappé also left for Real Madrid.
Despite these challenges, Enrique has led PSG to a spectacular season: Ligue 1 champion, Coupe de France finalist and now Champions League finalist. The Parisian club have eliminated big teams like Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal on their way to the final, and are now just two games away from a historic treble.
Only Yann Sommer's Inter stands between PSG and the dream of winning the Champions League for the first time. For Luis Enrique, this final is not only a sporting challenge, but also an opportunity to make his daughter Xana proud, who, as he himself says, continues to be by his side every day.
