Bayern honors legend, stadium gets address "Franz Beckenbauer Platz, number

From today, the 'Allianz Arena' has a new address, but, above all, it has a piece of the living history of German and world football.

Bayern Munich have officially announced on social media the change in the name of the street where their stadium is located, which is now called 'Franz Beckenbauer Platz, number 5', in honor of the immortal legend Franz Beckenbauer, who passed away in January last year.

The number 5 is no coincidence: it was exactly the one that "Der Kaiser" wore on his jersey during his brilliant career as a footballer, when he led Bayern and the German national team to European and world glory as captain.

"A sign of deep gratitude that keeps Franz Beckenbauer's legacy alive for future generations," the Bavarian club said in a statement.

This is another significant tribute to a figure who was not only an extraordinary footballer, but a symbol of style, authority and success in the most followed sport in the world.

Following his passing, Bayern also announced that they would erect a statue in front of the stadium, alongside that of another club icon, Gerd Müller.

The Beckenbauer statue, expected to be completed this fall, will be another reminder to visitors and fans of who built the club's glory in the red jersey.

A fitting tribute to a man who was not only a world champion, Ballon d'Or winner and undisputed leader, but also a figure who changed football as a player, coach and manager.

Bayern does not forget and does not allow itself to be forgotten. Franz Beckenbauer Platz, number 5: an address that sounds like poetry to any football fan.
