Bayer Leverkusen confirms Xabi Alonso's special release clause: Only if these clubs ask for it

Xabi Alonso has a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave Bayer Leverkusen immediately, and this has now been confirmed by the German club's top brass. Leverkusen chief executive Fernando Karro admitted that the Spaniard has a clause that relates to the clubs he has played for in his professional career.
Speaking to the media in Madrid, where he was present at the Laureus Awards, Karro admitted that the parties had agreed on this point from the start. Xabi Alonso could leave Bayer Leverkusen immediately if he received offers from Real Sociedad, Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Real Madrid, where he was offered a first-team bench.
Karro also told the media that the parties had set a deadline of 3-4 weeks to decide on the future. At that point, the Bundesliga competition will also be over and Xabi Alonso can continue with the "Aspirins", or leave directly if one of these four clubs requests it.
